City advises of possible low water pressure in Highbury, Kalkfontein and Sarepta areas

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting a network upgrade to its bulk water pipeline supplying the Highbury, Kalkfontein and Sarepta area next week Wednesday, 26 August 2020. This will affect water pressure in the area, and could cause supply interruptions, especially in higher-lying areas. Residents are asked to please avoid non-essential water use while work is underway to try and minimise these outages.

The planned upgrade will temporarily disrupt the water supply to the above-mentioned areas from 09:00 until 15:00 on Wednesday, 26 August 2020. Residents may experience low water pressure or no water at all during this time.

Two tankers supplying drinking water will be roaming through the area in case of outages.  Residents are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear masks as per the national regulations when collecting water.

Residents are also advised to store water in clean and sealed containers for use during this period if necessary.

If residents’ water supply is cut as a result of these works, they should please ensure all taps are closed to prevent water loss or property damage when supply is restored.

The City regrets any inconvenience that may be caused while conducting this essential maintenance.
